Supporting student success

As a Chisholm student, you can access a variety of support services that will enhance your study experience and help you complete your studies successfully. For more information about any of these services, call 1300 244 746.

Counselling services

Each week, our team of professionally qualified counsellors/psychologists offer current students over 40 hours of counselling support. This support is free and confidential. You can talk about anything happening in your life and get the support you need to keep your studies on track. 


Our five campus libraries are open for more than 2,500 hours per year, providing students access to more than 40 online databases, 143,000 ebooks and 19,000 online videos. You can also make use of our inviting learning spaces, computers and free wifi. And our friendly library staff are ready to help you, when you need it.

Disability support

In the past year, Chisholm has provided specific disability support to some 300 students, including assistance with selecting courses, access to specialised equipment and materials, and advocacy and referrals. Special needs identified included learning difficulties, mental health conditions and physical disability. Contact the Disability Officer as early as possible before your course commences to organise support.

Learning skills

Each week students can access 28 hours of support though the learning skills help desk which operates across our campus libraries. Learning skills teachers can help students improve study skills such as writing reports and essays, referencing and creating bibliographies, preparing for tests and developing presentation skills.

Pre-training review resources

Chisholm's Foundation College has developed two numeracy and literacy booklets which you can download to help you revise your skills before you complete the pre training review.

The literacy booklet has information about key parts of English, including punctuation, grammar, spelling and reading skills.

Studiosity provides free online advice from expert tutors to assist you with assignment and study questions. Tutors are available from 3pm to midnight, Sunday-Friday. A 24/7 essay review service operates year round.

Career and employment services

The Chisholm Skills and Jobs Centre provides a suite of job readiness workshops to prepare you for the workforce, and can connect you with local employment opportunities.

Indigenous support

Chisholm believes in working with people from all walks of life in the indigenous community. Our Koorie Liaison Officer works with parents who support children in kindergarten, elders in the community, and all ages in between to support the educational and training aspirations of all indigenous community members.

International student support

As an international student, you can access support though our International Students Office. Not only can they help with everything from course transfer advice to change of visa status, they also hold a welcome party for new students twice a year.

Campus life

Your time at Chisholm is so much more than just what you learn in the classrooms. We provide opportunities for you to get involved in campus life. In the past year, some 70 free campus events were held across nine of our campuses. During the events, more than 22,000 sausages, burgers, tacos and pancakes were served to happy students.

Apprenticeship support

Apprenticeship support officers provide free and confidential advice and assistance with work, training or personal issues. We also provide specialised support for apprentices who find themselves out of work, to keep them on track and help them complete their apprenticeships.
