Infection Control Training helping Victorians

As Victoria emerges from the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, businesses and workers need to ensure they can safely reopen and engage with customers.

Chisholm is now offering a free, short, accredited Cross-Sector Infection Control Skill Set (BSBSS00095) delivered through a mixture of online and workplace-based learning, available to help staff in critical industries identify and manage the ongoing risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections.

Workers can be upskilled with this free, short, accredited training program available to customer-facing employees in critical industry sectors.

After completion of the training, participants will be able to confidently:

  • follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
  • identify infection hazards and assess risks
  • follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards.

Participants will learn a range of skills, including:

  • hand hygiene practices
  • effective surface cleaning
  • use of personal protective equipment
  • disposal of contaminated waste
  • hazard identification, control and reporting
  • appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission.

After successfully completing this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited unit: BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities.

Who can apply for this free course?

This training is for employees in priority sectors.

Entry requirements

  • Must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) registered and have completed a pre-training review prior to enrolment. 
  • Applicants are in current employment at the time of enrolling into this course.
  • Applicants are only eligible if they have not completed any of the other free infection control skillsets including HLTSS00064, HLTSS00065, HLTSS00066 or HLTSS00067.
  • Computer and internet access are required to complete this course.
